All our service caps for the Army Class A green uniform are manufactured new and have never been issued or worn. Made with 100 percent Army shade 491 polyester, this cap for Field-Grade and General Officers features a visor adorned with handmade bullion arcs of oak leaves in accordance with Army regulations.

Although the Army did not announce the replacement of the Army Class A green uniform with the Army Service Uniform until 2008, preparations for the change had begun years earlier. One of the first victims of the ramp-up to the introduction of the Army Service Uniform was the green service cap; information about the cap was deleted from AR 670-1 beginning with the edition published on 3 February 2005.

According to earlier editions of AR 670-1, the Army green service was authorized for wear by all male personnel wearing the Class A and B Army green uniforms. But officer personnel did have to wear it with the Class A Army greens while they were in a travel status (PCS/TDY), assigned to units that had been authorized to wear organizational berets (Rangers, Special Forces, or Airborne), or assigned to Air Assault units. Officers were also authorized to wear the cap frame with a removable cover.
