Shoulder boards are prescribed for wear on the Men’s and Women’s Mess Dress and Formal Dress uniforms. Be sure to use the selection box to the right to choose Men’s or Women’s boards—the Women’s board is smaller and has a slightly different design than the Men’s version.
Attaching shoulder boards to either the Mess Dress coat (it's used for the Formal Dress uniform as well) is fast and easy. Just button the hinged shoulder boards and insert the lower half through the shoulder loops on the coat, position the board so that insignia is as close to the shoulder seam as possible, then snap the button back into place.
The sleeves of the Mess Dress coat worn by General Officers is adorned with silver braid 3/4" in width. Customers purchasing Air Force General Officer shoulder boards as part of a new uniform ensemble might wish to add the silver braid to their shopping cart by
