A required uniform for all Officers and Chief Warrant Officers (including Reserve Officers on Active Duty Operational Service for a year or more), the Service Dress White Uniform (SDW) for female Officers is a warm-weather uniform that is worn official, business and social functions and events for which the Senior Officer wishes to pay special honor to the activities such as parades, reviews, and evening socials. There is on Enlisted version of the uniform.
Like the SDW worn by male officers, this uniform’s coat has a distinctive Mandarin collar and shoulder loops for attaching hard shoulder boards to display rank insignia. The coat features six gold Coast Guard buttons in front instead of the five found on the male version of the uniform, and has no breast or lower pockets (the male version has two breast pockets). A white, unbelted skirt can be worn in lieu of the white slacks, and a Combination Cap is the only headgear authorized for wear with the uniform.
