U.S. ARMY 359TH SIGNAL BRIGADE COMBAT SERVICE ID BADGE (CSIB)

The design of the 359th Signal Brigade Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is taken directly from the Brigade's Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Military Operations in Hostile Conditions (SSI-MOHC) that was approved on 12 January 1988. This shield-shaped insignia features a shield an interior divided into four quadrants, two orange and two white—the branch colors of the Signal Corps.

Centered in the shield is a gridlined globe with a gold lightning flash superimposed upon it. The globe is indicative of the organization’s worldwide capabilities and mission scope; the lightning flash is a symbol of both of the unit’s mission involving electronic transmissions and their speed and accuracy.

The 359th Signal Brigade was originally formed in the Army of the United States as HQ and HQ Detachment (HHD), HQ and HQ Company (HHC), 359th Signal Service Battalion on 10 October 1944. Activated the next month, the Battalion was awarded a campaign streamer for its service in the American Theater (without inscription) following the conclusion of the war.

On 16 September 1955, the HHD, HHC 359th Signal Brigade Battalion was redesignated as HHD, 359th Signal Group and then allotted to the Army Reserve Over the next five decades, the unit would see itself inactivated/activated on several occasions, receiving its current designation as HHC, 359th Signal Brigade on 16 September 1987. In 1995, the Brigade was relocated to Fort Gordon, Georgia, designated as Fort Eisenhower in October 2023 and home to the U.S. Army Signal Corps and Cyber Command Schools.

As of Autumn 2023, the 359th Signal Brigade Battalion is still allotted to the Army Reserve and remains headquartered at Fort Eisenhower. The Brigade is under the command of the 335th Theater Signal Command when not deployed to active Federal service. Organizationally, the Brigade comprises the 982nd Combat Camera (Airborne) Company, the 300th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, and two Military History Detachments, the 317th and 45th. In all, some 1400-plus Soldiers are assigned to these units and the Brigade HQ and HQ Company.
