Serving under the 335th Signal Command (Theater) in East Point, Georgia, the 359th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, headquartered at Fort Gordon (Fort Eisenhower as of 27 October 2023), exercises command and control over Army Reserve Soldiers in six states. Its mission is to deploy wherever needed around the globe and to install, monitor, manage, and defend Theater-level networks and communication systems critical for the success of joint and combined operations.
The 359th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade was originally constituted as the 3359th Signal Service Battalion and activated 1 November 1944 in Brazil, earning an American Theater streamer (without inscription) for its World War II service. Given its current numerical designation as the 359th Signal Group and allotted to the Army Reserve in 1955, the unit would not receive its current designation until 16 September 1987. For its role in the War On Terrorism between 2010 and 2011, the Brigade was awarded a Meritorious Unit Commendation.
The 359th Theater Tactical Signal Bride Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was approved on 11 October 1989. A lightning flash symbolizes the accuracy and speed, while a blue globe with gridlines reflects the worldwide reach of the organization and accentuating the unit motto "Command And Communicate."
