U.S. ARMY 66TH MILITARY INTELLIGENCE BRIGADE PATCH (SSI)

Approved on 27 August 1987, the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI), also called a unit patch, uses the traditional Military Intelligence colors of Oriental Blue and Silver Gray as representations of the unit’s loyalty and determination. A close look at the color version of the patch worn on the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) reveals a solid Oriental Blue hexagon containing the outline of a hexagon in Silver Gray; the six sides of both shapes is 6 and 6, conveying the numerical designation of the unit.

The sphinx is a very common image in a Military Intelligence insignia, representing the traits of watchful observation, penetrating wisdom, and particular silence; its gold color denotes excellence of achievement. An upward-pointing Fairbairn Sykes dagger symbolizes the need for aggressive action and protective measures that are part and parcel of the unit's mission.
