Air Force Master Sergeants (E-7) are authorized to wear shoulder mark insignia on epaulets of the polywool pullover sweater and the blue or white cardigan sweaters (white cardigans are reserved for wear solely with the Maternity jumper and Maternity long- and short-sleeve blouses).

Prior to 2006, shoulder marks were optional wear items on the epaulets of long- and short-sleeve shirts and blouses for SNCOs (E-7 to E-9), but the Air Force eliminated that option at the same time that it brought back the U.S insignia with circles for wear by Enlisted personnel on the lapels of the Service Dress uniform.

Shoulder marks are available in two sizes. The large version is 2.125” wide at the base, 1.75” at the top, and 4.25” in length; small is also 2.125” at the base, but is an inch shorter in length and the top is a tiny bit wider (1.78”). Personnel are allowed to wear the size of their choosing.
