Note: Customers searching for the sew-on ABU rank insignia for E-7 First Sergeants please click here.Embroidered E-7 First Sergeant rank insignia is worn on the OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern) and ABU (Airman Battle Uniform) and the Patrol Caps issued with each one. On the OCP coat, both Officers and Enlisted personnel wear either the sew-on or hook and loop (Rank with Velcro) style of OCP insignia with its spice-brown subdued rank emblem, while ABU rank insignia is worn on the coat’s shoulders by Enlisted personnel and on the collars of coats worn by Officers. On the OCP coat, the attachment method for the rank insignia must be the same as that used for both the nametape and USAF tape.
Officially introduced for wear by all Air Force personnel in October 2018, the OCP will eventually replace all ABUs, which will no longer be authorized for wear after 1 April 2021.
Both OCP and ABU patterns of embroidered, subdued insignia are also manufactured in tubular slip-on versions designed to be slid onto rank tabs found on several Air Force uniform components such as the Improved Rain Suit and the Sage Green or Coyote Brown fleece jackets.
