U.S. ARMY ELEMENT, USSOCOM JOINT FORCES COMMAND COMBAT SERVICE ID BADGE (CSIB)

The design of the Combat Service ID Badge worn by U.S. Army personnel assigned to the Joint Forces Command of the U.S. Special Operations Command is based entirely on the colored version of the organization’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch. It employs an inverted shield (i.e.,  point upwards) divided into three distinct sections and charged with three distinct images to illustrate the components and capabilities of joint force operations.

Ultramarine blue on the left base and green on the right denote air/sea missions and ground operations, respectively, with the black between them representing both victory and power as well as unity and solidarity between the various branches. These are symbolized by a trident (Navy SEAL Tea

The CSIB is worn on the blue Army Service Uniform (including Dress variant), the ASU shirt (Class B ASU), and Mess and Evening Mess uniforms. The approval date for the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service  insignia upon which the CSIB is based is 5 February 2003.
