The design of the 352nd Civil Affairs Command Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is taken from the Command’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, which was approved on 25 October 1977.
It is rendered entirely in purple and white, branch colors for Civil Affairs. A scroll with curled ends is used as the hilt and handguard of a sword, a reference to the Civil Affairs branch insignia featuring a crossed sword and scroll.
The lower half of the sword is the bottom half of a cross bottony as seen on the state flag of Maryland, location of the Command’s Headquarters at the time the SSI was approved.
