The 321st Sustainment Brigade Combat Service ID Badge, or CSIB, is a metal facsimile of the colored version of the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia that was approved for the Brigade in March 2006. CSIBs are worn on the right side of the Army Service Uniform coat and the Mess / Evening Mess jackets, with varying guidance on placement for male and female Soldiers. The 321st Logistical Command, the Brigade’s original designation, was activated in February 1951 and was active for just shy of five years when it was inactivated in December 1955. It was finally reactivated in October 1981 as the 21st Materiel Management Center (Provisional), earning permanent status under that designation in April 1982 and serving with distinction under that name in the Southwest Asia conflict, commonly called the First Gulf War. It was elevated to Theater Support Status in October 2000, and during the launch of Operation Iraqi Freedom it operated as the single Corps Theater Automation Support Center in the Central Command (CENTCOM) Area of Responsibility.
It was given its current Brigade designation in 2006, and is currently assigned to the 143rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), which in turn is a subordinate unit of the 377th Theater Sustainment Command. It officially adopted its motto, "Your Names Shall Shine," at the same time that the 321st Sustainment Brigade unit crest (DUI) was approved in March 2006.
