The U.S. Army Reserve 7th Mission Support Command originally consisted of Army Reserve Schools that were established in Europe in 1956. Three decades later, the provisional 7th Army Reserve Command (ARCOM) was formed in January 1986. Following the Department of the Army’s approval of the authorization document for the 7th ARCOM, the organization became a general-officer command in 1989 with command and control of all Army Reserve units stationed in Europe.
In 2008, 7th ARCOM relocated to Daenner Kaserne in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and was subsequently reflagged as the 7th Civil Support Command in October 2009. It was given its current designation of 7th Mission Support Command in September 2015.
The 7th Mission Support Command is the only forward-stationed command in the Army Reserve, comprising approximately 1,000 drilling Reservists serving in 26 units in support of U.S. Army Europe and 21st Theater Sustainment Command. As of Autumn 2023, the Command's major subordinate units are the 361st Civil Affairs Brigade and the 510th Regional Support Group, augmented by ten Direct Reporting Units.
