U.S. ARMY 350TH CIVIL AFFAIRS COMMAND UNIT CREST (DUI)

On 16 October 1999, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 350th Civil Affairs Command was constituted and activated at Pensacola, Florida. Simultaneously the 361st Civil Affairs Brigade was inactivated and reflagged and activated as the newly constituted 350th Civil Affairs Command Command, one of only four in the Army. The new Command was created as a result of the transfer of responsibility for the Caribbean region from U.S. Atlantic Command to U.S. Southern Command, but is also capable of deploying personnel in support of any geographical commander if needed.

As of Autumn 2023, the 350th Civil Affairs Command is a major command of the U.S. Army Reserve Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne). Its subordinate units include the 321st Civil Affairs Brigade, the 1st Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Training Brigade, and the 151st Theater Information Operations Group.

The colors purple and white are used in the 350th Civil Affairs Command Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI), or unit crest, to indicate the organization’s status as a Civil Affairs unit. Stylized purple mountains are set behind a blue scroll simulating waves to symbolize the Caribbean, the Command’s home region and area of responsibility / theater of operations. Above the wavy blue line is a rope acting as a half-annulet; it links the land and the sea as symbol of unity and steadfastness. A sword and an olive branch at the bottom stand for operations conducted during conflict and during peacetime. “Send Us,” the unit motto, reflects the Command’s readiness to respond in defense of the country and its citizens.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit the DUI to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
