U.S. ARMY 219TH ENGINEER BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 219th Engineer Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia, also called a unit crest or DUI, was first approved for the 219th Support Group on 16 August 2005. Following the creation of the 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (BSB) in October 2007 from assets of the Support Group, the insignia was redesignated (and amended to revise the symbolism) for the 219th BSB in September 2008. In October 2017, the 219th BSB was reorganized and redesignated as 219th Engineer Brigade and the insignia was subsequently redesignated to the newly named unit.

While serving as a Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, the unit was deployed to Iraq in 2011 in support of Operation New Dawn. In December of that year its, selection for a Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC) was announced in Permanent Orders 356-72, which sated in part that the Brigade had "set new standards in conducting combined aerial reconnaissance and land surveillance operations, and mitigated risk to United States and Iraqi Forces during the re-posture of United States Forces" and that its actions supported "a stable Iraqi Government and a safe, orderly redeployment of United States Forces at the conclusion of Operation New Dawn." Award of the MUC was confirmed in 2014 in Army General Order 2014-17.

As of Autumn 2023, the 219th Engineer Brigade is an active unit in the Indiana Army National Guard and is headquartered at Franklin, Indiana. It consists of its HQ and HQ Company, 738th Signal Company, 113th Engineer Battalion, and the 2nd Battalion, 150th Field Artillery Regiment.

“Eye Of The Tiger,” the unit motto of the 219th Support Group that was adapted by both the 219th BSB and the 219th Engineer Brigade, is inscribed in gold on the scroll portion of the 219th Engineer Brigade's Distinctive Unit Insignia. The shield portion of the insignia is a symbol of protection and effective defense. Gold (buff) and scarlet are colors traditionally used by Support units; the black of the scroll is a sign of strength and unity and gold is the color of excellence. These colors also recall recall tiger stripes.

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all the unit's Soldiers (except General Officers) centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam (DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either of these uniforms, however).

For Enlisted personnel, the insignia is centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the insignia by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.
