U.S. ARMY 192ND INFANTRY BRIGADE PATCH (SSI)

The 192nd Infantry Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was approved on 25 January 2007 and celebrates the Brigade’s heritage in the Infantry branch. The flag-blue border is a color long associated with Infantry units, particularly in heraldry. A bayonet and grenade are two of the Infantryman’s basic weapons and symbolize close combat and carrying the fight to the enemy. Red is for patriotism and white for pureness of intent and mission.

Formed in 1921, the 192nd Infantry Brigade comprised two Infantry Regiments (383rd and 384th) and was assigned to the 96th Division. With the onset of World War II, the Brigade was redesignated as the 96th Reconnaissance Troop, an element of the 96th Infantry Division and served with it in two campaigns in the Pacific Theater (Ryukyus and Southern Philippines). It was during this period the unit adapted the motto "Take The High Ground" and was also awarded a Philippine Presidential Unit Citation.

Inactivated in 1946, it would not be redesignated as an Infantry Brigade again until 2007, when it was reactivated and assigned the task of conducing Basic Combat Training Courses at Fort Benning (now designated Fort Moore) in Georgia.

The Brigade was inactivated on 16 June 2013.
