Adapted for the unit’s Combat Service ID Badge worn on the Army Service Uniform, the color version of 13th Financial Management Support Center Shoulder Sleeve Insignia is replete with both historical and mythical symbolism.
The design is of a locked chest marked with a variety of symbols. At the top is a black star representing a keyhole—guarantee that the funds are secured from theft and will be available to the rightful owner. Below it is a bar with thirteen alternating golden yellow and black stripes, an allusion to the numerical designation of the unit. In the middle of the chest is a diamond with a griffin passant; the diamond is taken from the branch insignia, while griffins are noted for alertness and vigilance.
Below the diamond are three red stars that denote the 13th Financial Management Support Center’s Meritorious Unit Citations; add these three to the 10 represented by the black star, and you again have reference to the Center’s numerical designation.
Last affiliated with the 13th Sustainment Command as a subordinate, the 13th Financial Management Support Center was inactivated on 6 December 2013.
