U.S. NAVY E-7 CHIEF PETTY OFFICER TIE TACK / TIE CLASP

Display your Chief Petty Officer pride with a gold tie tack or tie clasp featuring the iconic CPO insignia, first introduced in 1893 when the rank was officially created (although the first incarnation of the insignia featured a horizontally positioned anchor).

Navy uniform regulations authorize the wear of gold tie tacks or clasps by CPOs with the black four-in-hand tie worn on the Full Dress Blue and Service Dress Blue uniforms. While both hand-tied and pre-tied neckties are permitted, the bottom of the should be no more than an inch above the belt buckle and in no case should the bottom of the tie cover the buckle.

Until 1958, Chief Petty Officer was the highest enlisted rate in the United States Navy, and Sailors who reached it had amassed a treasure trove of knowledge, so much so that the standard answer to almost any question for a junior enlisted Sailor is “Ask the Chief.” And even with the introduction of Senior and Master Chief Petty Officers, the E-7 CPO is still undoubtedly the single most important NCO in the daily lives of enlisted personnel.
