USMC CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER 2 COAT RANK DEVICE

The Chief Warrant Officer 2 metal grade insignia worn on almost every uniform (except Evening Dress) comprises a 1-1/8” gold-colored bar with three scarlet-colored enamel blocks placed upon it. The center block is 1/4” wide and the two outer blocks are 1/8” in width, with 1/4” of space on both sides of the center block. It is referred to as shoulder grade insignia because of where it is placed on coats and jackets, as well as a way of distinguishing it from identically designed but slightly smaller insignia worn on collars.
 
On dress jackets, dress/service coats, the All-Weather Coat, and the Tanker Jacket, the Chief Warrant Officer 2 insignia of grade is worn on the shoulder straps with the long axis of the insignia facing forward and backward to make a 90-degree angle with the center line of the strap running from the shoulder strap button to the armhole seam. It’s positioned on the shoulder strap so that the insignia’s outermost edge is 3/4” from the armhole seam.
