Like the United States Navy and Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Combination Cap features a hatband that includes a mounting area in front for attaching the Auxiliary’s cap device. The shape of the mounting area is distinct from the hatbands used by those services, reflecting the addition of a ring of laurel upon which the spread eagle is mounted.
Because the cap device is attached only to the mounting area of the hatband, it exerts no pull on the Combination Cap’s crown fabric, giving it a longer wear life. And per Auxiliary regulations, the hatband is manufactured in dark blue with a black mounting area featuring a grommet positioned so the cap device will be properly centered and aligned.
