Ultramarine blue and golden orange, official branch colors of Army Aviation, dominate the design of the U.S. Army Aviation Logistics School Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch. An upright, winged sword is a symbol of the Air Defense mission, the success of which depends to a large degree upon the support provided by the Soldiers trained at the Aviation Logistics School. A lighted lamp is a symbol of the learning provided by School. The patch was approved for wear on 6 June 1985.
Originally created as the U.S. Army Transportation and Aviation Logistics School, today’s Aviation Logistics School was born out of the decision to separate Aviation Logistics Training from the Transportation School under the command of what is now designated as the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Fort Novosel (formerly named Fort Rucker) in Alabama.
In September 2011, the School was transformed into a Training Brigade in order to better accomplish its training enable Brigade-level command and control over the School’s students, staff, faculty, and cadre. Less than a half-year later, the 128th Aviation Brigade was activated on 1 February 2012 to fill that role.
The Brigade’s motto, “Born Under Fire, reflects the unit’s history: it was activated as a Provisional Brigade during Operation Just Cause in Panama and was awarded an Armed Forces Expedition – Panama campaign streamer for its service in the operation.
The 128th Aviation Brigade’s training mission is handled by three Battalions, two from the 210th Aviation Regiment (1st and 2nd) and 1st Battalion, 22nd Aviation Regiment.
