A Warrant Officer 1 (WO1) wears nonsubdued, pin-on metal rank insignia on outerwear garments (on the shoulder loops of the Black All-Weather Coat and Black Windbreaker). Nonsubdued metal insignia is also authorized for wear on the sleeves of the jackets worn with the mess and evening mess uniforms. Accordingly, the WO1 pin-on metal rank insignia offered on this page come in pairs.
On the shoulder loops of outerwear, the pin-on metal rank insignia is worn near the squared (shoulder) end of the loop. With the Blue or White Mess jacket, this insignia is centered in the area formed by the lower curves of the knot (trefoil) and the sleeve braid. (Note that officers are authorized to wear rank insignia of embroidered bullion on these two formal jackets; please visit our page for
WO1 Embroidered Bullion Rank Insignia to learn more.)
Warrant Officers 1 also wear pin-on metal rank insignia on the black beret as well as on the colored berets that are organizational items for personnel in Airborne, Ranger, and Special Forces units. Please visit our
Hat Accessories page for WO1 insignia designed for wear on these headgear items.
