U.S. ARMY 75TH FIELD ARTILLERY BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. Current regulations do not permit the DUI to be worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 75th Field Artillery Brigade Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved on 29 October 1969 while the unit was still a Field Artillery Group; it has brought the old insignia (with new description) with it every time it has been redesignated. Scarlet and yellow are classic Artillery colors; the cannon and taut lanyards (cannon pull strings for detonation) serve as a dual reference to the Artillery mission as well as constant military preparedness. A white explosive charge with a single red cannon is an allusion to the unit’s service in World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. The Brigade's readiness is emphasized by the motto, "Taut Lanyards," which means a hand is always ready to pull the trigger, so to speak.

First constituted in as the 509th Coast Artillery (Antiaircraft) and organized at Seattle, Washington, today’s 75th Field Artillery Brigade deployed overseas as the 7th Coast Artillery during World War II and was redesignated Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 75th Antiaircraft Artillery Group in February 1944. It would earn credit for action in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, but with no inscription for a particular campaign.

As the HHB, 75th Field Artillery Brigade, it would take part in all three Campaigns in the Southwest Asia Conflict, i.e., the First Gulf War. In 2006, it was redesignated as a Fire Brigade, retaining its numerical designation; in 2014, it reverted back to the Filed Artillery Brigade classification. It is currently stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.

As of 2023, the 75th Field Artillery Brigade remains an active unit and is stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. It supports III Armored Corps and consists of five Field Artillery Battalions and a Brigade Support Bat
talion.
