U.S. ARMY 3RD SIGNAL BRIGADE UNIT CREST (DUI)

The Distinctive Unit Insignia (familiarly called the unit crest) of the 3rd Signal Brigade employs three lightning flashes similar to those found in the unit's Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB). In the unit crest, however, the flashes stand for three communications technologies—MSE, TACSAT, and TROPO—employed by the brigade in force support, hammering home both the unit motto and its unofficial nickname "Triple Threat."

The flashes are placed inside a triangle that is superimposed on three roundels representing rounds of ammo, while the blue, gold, and scarlet color scheme represent the three types of combat arms the unit supports: Infantry, Armor, and Artillery, respectively. The repetition of triad design elements reflects the brigade's numerical designation.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam.
