The 335th Signal Command (Theater) was originally constituted and activated on 13 February 1953 in the Army Reserve as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 335th Signal Group, a designation it would retain with only slight modifications to its Headquarters structure until its redesignation as the 335th Signal Brigade on 16 October 1984. It would serve as a Brigade for under two years, redesignated under its current title of 335th Signal Command 16 April 1986. Headquartered in East Point, Georgia, the Command provides both signal and cyber units in support of United States Army Central Command (CENTCOM) in Southwest Asia as well as to combatant commander across the globe.
Approved on 30 October 1985 while still designated a Brigade, the 335th Signal Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (often called a “unit patch) features two of the most common design elements used for Signal Corps insignia. The first, lightning flashes, are used to denote the speed of modern communications; here, they combine with the dark blue background to signify also the atmosphere through which signals often travel. (They also recall the unit motto of "Ready Lightning.") The second, a globe with gridlines, indicates the worldwide communication capabilities of the Command and ultimately its mission reach.
