U.S. ARMY 266TH FINANCE COMMAND PATCH (SSI)

Golden yellow and gray are incorporated in the 266th Finance Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (unit patch) to reflect the organization’s mission as a unit in the Finance Corps. The Command’s association with Europe—it served U.S. Army Europe from the end of World War II until its final inactivation on 16 July 2008—is denoted by the demi-lion in the center of the insignia. Financial responsibilities are recalled with the color gold, while black is the color of solvency and solidarity.

The 266th Finance Command unit patch was approved on 9 March 1987 while the unit was designated the 266th Finance Center; it was redesignated for the 266th Finance Command on 1 January 1994.

The insignia was cancelled effective 15 August 2008, when the unit was redesignated to a Center; since that time, it has been redesignated three more times in what seems to have been an attempt to use every possible combination of the words "Finance/Financial," "Support," and "Center." It currently served as the 266th Finance Support Center and is a part of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command.
