U.S. ARMY 1ST THEATER SUSTAINMENT COMMAND PATCH (SSI)

Since its activation on 4 October 1950 as the 1st Logistical Command, the 1st Theater Sustainment Command has undergone a startling number of redesignations for an organization of its size, due largely to the evolution of logistics and support concepts engendered by advancing technology. In 1971, it became 1st Field Army Support Command (FASCOM); 1972 saw its redesignation as 1st Corps Support Command (COSCOM) until it became 1st Support Command in 1980. It wasn’t until 2006 that it was given its current designation.

Currently, 1st Theater Sustainment Command is headquartered at Fort Knox, Kentucky with a forward operational command post at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Roughly 10,000 personnel work under the Command, including civilians and contractors, with its Soldiers deployed in over 20 nations across the globe.

The 1st Theater Sustainment Command Shoulder Sleeve Insignia is an allusion to a clock face with the arrow pointing to 10:30, i.e., before the eleventh hour, a reminder that the Command accomplishes its missions speedily and on time.
