The Coast Guard Auxiliary authorizes the wear of insignia that designates an Auxiliarist’s organizational leadership position on the Garrison Cap that may be worn with the men’s and women’s Tropical Blue, Winter Dress Blue, or Undress Blue uniforms (it may also be worn with the Flight suit by aviators), as well as on Auxiliary or Coast Guard unit ball caps.
When worn on the Garrison Cap, the Flotilla Staff Officer (FSO) appointed leader insignia is placed on the wearer’s right side, with the center of the device 1-1/2” from the bottom of the cap and 2” from the cap’s front crease. On the left side, a smaller version of the Auxiliary cap device worn on the Combination Cap is positioned using the same criteria.
On both the Auxiliary and Coast Guard unit ball cap, the FSO appointed leader insignia is worn centered between the inscriptions, i.e., between “U.S. COAST GUARD” and “AUXILIARY” on the Auxiliary hat and between “U.S. COAST GUARD” and “UNIT NAME” on the USCG ball cap. The Auxiliary cap device is not worn on either of these ball caps.
