A spread silver eagle, mounted with a red letter “A” and grasping arrows and laurel leaves in its talons, is the insignia of leadership position for four offices filled by appointment in the Coast Guard Auxiliary: Deputy Assistant National Commodore (ANACOd), Director (DIR), National Commodore Administrative Assistant (N-AA), and Senior Fellow (SF). In addition to being displayed on shirt collars, coat sleeves, and epaulettes, it is also worn as a cap device alongside the Auxiliary emblem on the Garrison Cap, which is worn with the Tropical Blue, Winter Dress Blue, Undress Blue–Winter, and Flight suit.
The insignia is worn on the wearer’s right side of the Garrison Cap, with the eagle facing forward. Its center should be 2 inches from the crease in the front of the cap and 1.5 inches from the bottom of the cap. On the left side of the cap, a small version of the Auxiliary cap device worn on the Combination Cap is positioned using the same rules of distance from the front crease and bottom of the cap.
