Worn by personnel serving in the United States Army Reserve’s 651st Regional Support Group up until its inactivation in 2012, the 651st Support Group Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 14 April 2000. Its buff (gold) and scarlet tones served to indicate its role as a Support organization. A snow-capped mountain peak symbolizes the strong base of support the unit provided and also alludes to the Rocky Mountains, highlighting the unit’s home station of Aurora, Colorado.
The unit motto, “Service Support,” is seen on a gold banner inscribed in gold, the color of excellence and high achievement, and is evidenced by the Meritorious Unit Commendation that was awarded to the Group’s Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment on 2 April 2012. Between 30 September 2010 to 15 August 2011, the outstanding performance of the Group’s HHD and the subordinate units assigned to it in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom by providing Warfighters with deployment and redeployment support was highlighted by their ability to repeatedly innovate to accomplish the mission.
At the time it was inactivated, the 651st Regional Support Group was a part of the 311th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, a major subordinate command of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
