U.S. ARMY 645TH SUPPORT GROUP UNIT CREST (DUI)

Now worn by personnel serving in the 645th Regional Support Group, the 645th Support Group Distinctive Unit Insignia (AKA "unit crest" or DUI) was approved on 23 November 1999. The black and gold interlocking diamond shapes, called mascles, are symbols of solidarity and cooperation within and between organizations that create the type of confidence necessary to deliver “Unquestionable Support.”

Two swords form a chevron, an historical heraldic symbol for support which reinforces the Group mission while also conveying its readiness. The use of black throughout the insignia denotes strength, scarlet is for courage, and gold is for excellence and high achievement.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
