The organizational flash approved for the 612th Quartermaster Company (Aerial Supply) was approved on 27 April 2004. It is worn centered on the maroon beret authorized for Airborne-designated units or organizations, hence the dual title of “beret flash” and “organizational flash.” Officers pin their nonsubdued rank insignia onto the center of the flash, whole all Enlisted personnel wear either their Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) or Regimental Distinctive Insignia, wearing the latter only if the organization does not have an authorized DUI.
Its Airborne background trimming, or oval, was also approved on that date, but it is not in stock at this time.
About a year after the flash was approved, the 612th Quartermaster Company was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom. For its service between 28 May 2005 and 12 April 2006 while assigned to the HQ and HQ Detachment, 530th Supply and Service Battalion, the Company was selected for a Meritorious Unit Commendation.
The 612th Quartermaster Company would later be assigned to the 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and tasked with parachute rigging, an assignment it had handled with skill and accuracy during its Iraqi Freedom deployment.
As of Summer 2023, there is no readily available public information regarding the 612th Quartermaster Company and it may have been redesignated, disbanded, or merged with another unit under another designation.
