U.S. ARMY MISSION AND INSTALLATION CONTRACTING COMMAND UNIT CREST (DUI)

Green and gold, colors that are traditionally associated with the United States Army, are used in abundance on the Mission and Installation Contracting Command Distinctive Unit Insignia, also referred to as a unit crest. The insignia was approved on 15 June 2009.

The focal point of the insignia is a gridlined globe surmounted on a golden sword. The sword is a symbol of the acme of leadership and knowledge in Contracting excellence. Encircling the lower half of the globe is a garland of oak green oak leaves that is oriented like a wreath, a sign of the sacrifices made by the Soldiers supported by the Command.

The globe suggests that the Command is a critical and essential part of the worldwide Contracting effort, while the gold shield signifies the Command’s ability to provide the battlefield Commander with the extra tools necessary to support and protect the forces. A gold star alludes to the Command’s ability to provide Contracting support for the five Armed Forces of the United States at the time the insignia was approved.
. "Contracting For Soldiers," the unit motto, points to the most important aspect of the Command's responsibilities--individual Warfighters.

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, the Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."
