U.S. ARMY 67TH SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 67th Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 15 July 1969. It consists of a red shield and a scroll inscribed with the unit motto “Support To Success” that enwraps the lower half of the shield. A chevron bearing a green chevronelle divides the shield into upper and lower portions, with the upper area containing two fleurs-de-lis and a fountain (a disc with wavy horizontal lines) that recalls the Platte River; Native Americans called the river Nebraska, hence the state’s name).

A green chevronelle is a reference to the wide variety of shade trees that pioneers planted on the streets of Lincoln, home of the Battalion’s Headquarters at the time the insignia was designed and approved. The grain stalk below the chevronelle recalls the world-famous fields of corn and wheat found in the state.

There is no readily available public information regarding the constitution, history, lineage, or combat records for the 67th Support Battalion, which was also designated as the 67th Forward Support Battalion. According to newspaper accounts, the 67th Forward Support Battalion was consolidated into the 1075th Transportation Company in 2002.  Please email us if you have any info on the Battalion’s status or any records regarding its service history.
