Frquently called a unit crest, the Distinctive Unit Insignia (DUI) of the 405th Support Brigade was approved on 27 October 2008. In the center is a shield of red, white, and blue that is adapted from the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of U.S. Army Materiel Command, the parent command of the Brigade’s immediate commanding organization, U.S. Army Sustainment Command. The shield denotes the fact that the Brigade is responsible for all operational-level logistics support to forces in Europe and is Army Materiel Command’s single point of entry there.
A pair of lightning bolts are emblems of rapid provision of support to units and their personnel; between them, the castle tower in front of a wavy blue partition is a symbol of the famous rivers of Europe the water of a castle moat, an archetype of defensive strength that invokes the European Theater of Operations where the Brigade serves. A sword is a symbol of constant military readiness, while the contrast between the black and gold is a reminder of the contrast of day and night and thus the round-the-clock nature of the Brigade’s mission. The unit motto, FULCIO BELLATORIS, is Latin for “Support The Warrior.”
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia."
