Often referred to as a unit crest or as a DUI for short, the Distinctive Unit Insignia of the 1792nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion was originally approved 149th Support Battalion on 26 June 2009 and was subsequently worn by personnel in the 149th Brigade Support Battalion, 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Kentucky Army National Guard. It was redesignated for the 1792nd Support Battalion, now serving as the 1792nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, on 18 June 2020.
The Battalion’s mission of support is signified by the division of the shield into a yellow chevron with its peak in the center. Two griffins segreant stand for valor, vigilance, and powerful combat skill in all types of battle. A cross with thirteen stars symbolizes the original thirteen states of the Union and the new nation’s religious ideals. A bugle recalls the traditions and heritage of the unit, and serves as a reminder of the captured bugle carried by the chief bugler of the 2nd Kentucky Infantry in 1862. The color gold stands for excellence; dark blue is a reminder of the Orphan flag associated with the unit’s history. SUSTINEO PUGNA is the unit motto; it means “Sustaining The Fight.”

The Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device.
It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.
Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
