COAST GUARD AUXILIARY DCDR / DDC / ASC / DIRD / DVC RIPSTOP SEW-ON COLLAR DEVICE

A silver oak leaf with a black letter “A” serves as the sew-on embroidered collar device for the Coast Guard Auxiliary's Division Commanders (DCDR) and the corresponding appointed staff positions of District Directorate Chief (DDC), Auxiliary Sector Coordinator (ASC), Deputy Director (DIRd), Division Chief (DVC), and Fellow.

The Auxiliary eschews pin-on metal devices for the Operational Dress Uniform (ODU), mandating instead embroidered insignia on a swatch of fabric that’s sewn onto the collar. (Auxiliarists have the option of wearing sew-on embroidered insignia on the Jump suit, which is purchased from commercial sources.)

To place the DCDR collar properly on the collar, start with the device vertically upright. Imagine a line equilaterally bisecting the collar angle running through the collar point to the top of the collar, then center the DCDR device on it by tilting it left or right; the top of the “A” should be pointing at the 10 or 2 o’clock position with the imaginary line now bisecting the insignia. Maintaining this orientation, move the device until its bottom (not the bottom of the fabric patch) is 1-1/8 inches from the collar point.
