The Coast Guard Auxiliary’s 16 District Commodores (DCO) report to their respective Coast Guard District Commanders, coordinating and consulting with the Director (DIR) to acquire administrative management and resources to support Auxiliary programs. In the Auxiliary itself, District Commodores work with District Chiefs of Staff to ensure effective implementation of Auxiliary programs and provide direct oversight for District Captains (DCAPTs).
District Commodores are the only Auxiliary Officers at the District level to wear a single star as an insignia; Assistant National Commodore (ANACO), which is also represented by one star, is a National Staff position.
The pin-on, metal version of this insignia is worn as a collar device by District Commodores on the Undress Blue—Winter, Winter Dress Blue, and Undress short-sleeve shirts.
