U.S. ARMY 927TH SUPPORT BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 927th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, commonly referred to as a unit crest or as a DUI, was approved for the 927th Support Battalion on 21 June 1994. Its buff (gold) and scarlet color scheme is based upon the colors associated with Support organizations, with scarlet symbolizing zeal and vitality and gold denoting high ideals and excellence.

A scarlet saltire (“x”) in the shield portion of the insignia is taken from the Florida state flag, a reference to the unit’s status as an organization in the Florida Army National Guard; it is also a traditional symbol of support in heraldry. The pair of crossed key represents controls, and the polestar in the center denotes the organization’s readiness for worldwide deployment. “We Support The Force” is the Battalion motto.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
