The 267th Finance Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia, colloquially referred to as a “unit crest” or a DUI, was approved for wear on 16 May 1994. Silver gray and golden yellow, traditional colors of Finance Battalion units, are incorporated in its shield background and the interior of the lozenge (diamond shape) that makes up part of the Pole Star. “Arctic Paymasters,” the unit motto, is a reference not only one of the unit’s primary functions, but also its location at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Another nod to the home station of Fort Richardson’s location is seen in the blue and gold of the Pole Star: these colors are adapted from the state flag of Alaska and stand for loyalty (think “true blue”) and excellence.
A pair of quill pens are an allusion to the unit’s administrative mission; they are crossed to denote strength and support. The Pole Star is associated with northern climates (it is often called the “North Star”), and the lozenge behind it has been adapted from the Finance Corps branch insignia.

Distinctive Unit Insignias are worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.
Note: This unit that for which the insignia was lasted officially designated appears to no longer be active. It may have been redesignated, inactivated, deactivated, disbanded or consolidated with another organization and given a new name.
