The Women’s Service Dress Blue Coat is a true work-horse in the stable of Female Coast Guard Dress coats: it is worn not only with the Alpha and Bravo versions of the Women’s Service Dress Blue Uniform, but also with the Full Dress Blue and Dinner Dress Blue Uniforms. Because rank insignia is displayed with sleeve ornamentation or insignia (rank stripes and rating badges) rather than with pin-on insignia or hard shoulder boards on epaulettes or shoulder loops, the basic construction of the Officer and Enlisted versions is identical.
This single-breasted coat is semi-fitted and features notched lapels, side body panels, and a two-piece back construction. Three 28-ligne Coast Guard gold buttons attached to the left front are used for closure, while the four pockets—two breast, two hip—are each secured with 23-ligne USCG gold buttons.
Note: Our military dress coats and jackets are manufactured and ship with unfinished sleeves longer than most customers would ever need. This is to accommodate various arm lengths and to reduce total alteration costs since placement of sleeve stripes or services stripes is based upon distance from the sleeve end, allowing you to hem the sleeve to its regulation length before sewing on sleeve ornamentation. It also ensures you have ample material with which to work during the alteration process.
