Male Coast Guard Auxiliary Captains and Commanders can be instantly recognized at a glance thanks to the oak leaf ornamentation crafted in silver bullion on the visor of their Combination Caps, setting them apart from junior Officers and other Auxiliary members. The abundance of silver on the Cap, from the chinstrap and “scrambled eggs” on the visor to the 24-ligne silver Auxiliary cap buttons and the dominating eagle rising, give the Auxiliary’s Combination Cap a gravitas rarely seen in military or civilian headgear.
The men’s Auxiliary Cap is a mandatory component of the men’s Service Dress White or Blue and Dinner Dress uniforms, but is also authorized for wear with Winter Dress Blue, Tropical Blue, Undress Blue – Winter, and Undress Blue – Summer (Alpha).
