Manufactured at our production facility in North Carolina, the Air Force Officer Service Dress Coat is crafted from a Mil-Spec certified 55/45 polywool blend in Air Force shade 1620, or “Air Force Blue.” Per USAF uniform regulations, this semi-drape, single-breasted coat features a serge weave, single vent in the rear, three front buttons, two lower pocket flaps, and a welt pocket on the wearer’s upper left. It also features epaulets on the shoulders for the mounting of pin-on insignia of grade (the Enlisted version of the Coat has no epaulets).
While meeting all Air Force requirements are regarding the design and composition of the Service Dress Coat, we have made several allowable enhancements to the coat that give it a longer wear life and more professional appearance than you’ll find in Service Dress Coats from The Exchange. Our military dress coats and jackets are manufactured and ship with unfinished sleeves longer than most customers would ever need. This is to accommodate various arm lengths and to minimize total alteration costs, since placement of sleeve devices and sleeve stripes or services stripes is predicated on the distance from the sleeve end. We do offer a variety of sleeve alteration services that will be suggested to you when add the coat to your shopping cart should you prefer to have the coat arrive ready to wear.
