The USAF Honor Guard and Base Honor Guard tab, referred to as the USAF Honor Guard arc and Base Honor Guard arc in AFI 36-2903, is worn with the Ceremonial Blouse, Ceremonial Overcoat, and the Ceremonial Lightweight Blue Jacket. It is sewn on 1/2” from the left shoulder seam and positioned so that it is centered and parallel to the ground when the garments are worn. Any stitching between the letters on the tab is to be colored in with a black marker or removed altogether using a seam ripper.

The USAF Honor Guard was originally formed as part of the 1100th Air Police Squadron in 1948; it became an officially distinct and separate unit on 1 January 1972. Base Honor Guards were established in 1995 to implement the guidance in the Protocol, Honors and Ceremonies course created by the USAF Honor Guard to ensure that all ceremonial services followed the same standardized procedures and traditions.
