Shoulder boards are worn by Air Force Captains on the Men’s and Women’s Formal Mess Dress (Officers only) and Mess Dress uniforms. They are secured on the Mess Dress coat by passing the bottom half of each board through the coat’ shoulder loop and then positioning them so that the rank on the board is as close to the shoulder seam as possible.
