Only Officers and Chief Petty Officers wear gold buttons in the Navy; female Sailors in the rates E1 to E6 wear silver buttons on service dress coats, and both male and female Sailors E1 to E6 wear silver buttons on Mess Dress jackets. On all Navy buttons is the image of an eagle rising, perched on a horizontally positioned anchor and its head facing the wearer’s right. This imagery is surrounded by 13 five-pointed stars and a circular rope.

  • Male Service Dress Khaki Jacket: 3 x 36 Ligne buttons and 4 x 22.5 Ligne
