Renowned for their technical knowledge, Chief Warrant Officers in the Coast Guard wear the specialty mark reflecting their field of expertise—a winged propeller in the case of Aviation Engineering CWOs—on both sleeves of the Service Dress Blue coat.

As Officers, they also wear their insignia of rank in the form of a sleeve stripe placed two inches from the cuff, with a gold Coast Guard shield centered on the outside of the sleeve sewn one-quarter-inch above the top of the stripe; the specialty mark is centered above the shield.

Specialty marks are not worn on blue uniforms such as the Dinner Dress Blue Jacket or Formal Dress Blue that designed for wear at formal events. On white uniforms (Dress/Full Dress/Dinner Dress/Service), the CWO specialty and rank are displayed on Hard shoulder boards attached through the shoulders loops of those uniforms’ coats/jackets.
