U.S. ARMY 90TH SUSTAINMENT BRIGADE COMBAT SERVICE ID BADGE (CSIB)

The 90th Sustainment Brigade Combat Service ID Badge (CSIB) is a metal rendition of the full-color version of the Brigade’s Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch. That insignia was approved back in 1918 and has been redesignated to be worn not only by units in the direct lineage of the original insignia bearer, the 90th Division, but has also be reassigned to units that did not (or do not) carry on that lineage or inherit those honors.

Since 1918, the following units have been authorized to wear this insignia:

  • 90th Division (and 90th Infantry Division)
  • 90th Army Reserve Command
  • 90th Regional Support Command
  • 90th Regional Readiness Command
  • 90th Sustainment Brigade
While the “TO” monogram was officially understood be a reference to the states of Texas and Oklahoma, sources of many of the original soldiers in the 90th Division back in 1918, over the years it’s also been said to stand for “Texas’ Own” and “Tough ‘Ombres.” The latter struck such a chord that, by the 1970s, it had overtaken the original interpretation and the phrase was employed in the design of the 90th Army Reserve Command Distinctive Unit Insignia (unit crest).
