In its original incarnation as the 3160th Signal Service Battalion, the 160th Signal Brigade earned a Meritorious Unit Commendation for its service in the European Theater during World War II. The unit received its current numerical designation in 1954 when it was redesignated as the 160th Signal Group and activated in Germany in January 1955. Under this designation, the unit received official credit for participation in 14 of the Army’s 17 designated campaigns in the Vietnam War, including the final Cease-Fire campaign.
The 160th Signal Brigade CSIB, or Combat Service Identification Badge, features the same insignia as the brigades unit patch, which was approved on 6 March 1981. Orange is one of the colors traditionally associated with Signal Corps units; the other color, white, is used on the blue globe to reflect the Brigade’s function of supporting the combat mission (blue is the Infantry color). Lightning flashes symbolize the speed of modern communications, and their position over the globe reflects the reach of the unit and its superior command.
As of January 2018, the 160th Signal Brigade is stationed at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
