U.S. ARMY 1ST BATTALION, 507TH INFANTRY REGIMENT BERET FLASH AND/OR OVAL

The 1st Battalion, 507th Infantry Regiment (Airborne) background trimming, more commonly referred to as an oval, was first worn by Battalion personnel on 3 January 1986, the same date that that they also began wearing the organizational flash on the maroon beret authorized for wear by members in Airborne units.

Ovals are worn by personnel all personnel in the 1st Battalion, 507th Infantry Regiment who have been awarded a Parachutist or Air Assault Badge. The main portion of the badge (i.e., excluding the star and/or wreath on the Senior or Master Parachutist Badge) is centered on the oval and worn on Service Uniform coats (AGSU and ASU/ASU Dress) and Service Uniform shirts (except on Class B AGSU), as well as by female Soldiers on the green or blue Army Maternity Tunic. Detailed wear instruction can be found in paragraph 21–32 of the January 2021 edition of DA PAM 670-1.

The 1st Battalion, 507th Infantry Regiment (1-507th INF) flash is worn centered on the stiffener of the maroon beret which has been authorized for wear by members of Airborne units since 1981. Battalion Officers wear non-subdued insignia of grade centered on the flash, while NCOs and Junior Enlisted wear the 570th Infantry Regiment Distinctive Unit Insignia, or unit crest, in the same manner; in this case, the Regimental Distinctive Insignia is worn because the 1st Battalion, 507th Infantry Regiment has not been authorized a unit crest.
