After the end of the war, the Company underwent a series inactivations and reactivations before being reorganized and redesignated as HHC, 2nd Airborne Battle Group, 506th Infantry. It

Inactivated 25 April 1957 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and relieved from assignment to the 101st Airborne Division; concurrently reorganized and redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Airborne Battle Group, 506th Infantry. But the unit never deployed under this designation and on 21 January 1964 it was redesignated as HHC, 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry and assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.

Like the 1st Battalion, the 2nd Battalion fought in a dozen campaigns in Vietnam, with its outstanding service and courage recognized by the U.S. Army with a Presidential Unit Citation and a Meritorious Unit Citation and by the government of the Republic of Vietnam (ROV) through two ROV cross of Gallantry with Palm awards and an ROV Civil Action Honor Medal, First Class.

Over the next eight years, the Battalion’s outstanding service, mainly with the 4th BCT, would be recognized with no fewer than four Meritorious Unit Commendations. Following the inactivation of the 4th BCT, the Battalion was reassigned to the 3d Brigade Combat, 101st Airborne Division, where its continued commitment to excellence and mission success was again rewarded with a Meritorious Unit Commendation, this time for service between November 2016 and July 2017,
